Why choose a roaming band?

Roaming brings the music to your guests: no stage, no barriers. We mingle table-to-table, spark sing-alongs, and keep the energy flowing as your day moves from arrivals to evening.

  • Front-row for everyone: close-up interaction and photo-ready moments.

  • Flexible & fast: move seamlessly between garden, bar and dining room: no resets.

  • Conversation-friendly: unplugged is perfect for mingling; wireless amplified scales up for larger rooms.

  • Minimal footprint: no stage; unplugged needs no power or cables.

  • Limiter-friendly: works beautifully in venues with noise limiters and tricky layouts.

  • Fills the gaps: ideal for guest arrival, drinks reception, desserts, and greeting evening guests.

  • Live requests: we can take requests on the day to keep things personal.

Do you play while roaming?

Yes: we perform among your guests and move between groups every few songs so more people get that front-row feel. For surprise entrances, our guitarist and saxophone player will often enter the room while playing; our double bass player and percussionist follow behind and settle at a chosen spot before the full band begins. During general roaming between groups, we don’t play while physically walking with drums or double bass; we pause briefly to relocate, then perform up close at the next table or area. It’s interactive, informal, fully mobile, and ideal for guest arrival and drinks receptions.

How loud is a roaming band?

Unplugged roaming is conversation-friendly and ideal for outdoor spaces or relaxed moments, suitable up to around 100 guests. For larger rooms or when you want more presence, our wireless amplified roaming gives fuller coverage. We always set volume to suit your brief and any venue rules.

Wireless amplified roaming uses a discreet wireless PA and speakers with wireless instruments, so there are no trailing cables.

What do you need from the venue?

Minimum requirements:

  • Unplugged roaming: no power required.

  • Wireless amplified roaming: one 13A mains socket near the performance area.

  • Staged or complex amplified set-ups: confirmed case by case based on guest count and room layout.

Helpful extras:

  • Amplified only: room/stage measurements or a floor plan so we can bring the right PA and lighting.

  • Noise limiters: threshold and sensor location in advance.

  • Access & parking: clear load-in and nearby parking. A surcharge may be added if we need to park off-site after load-in.

  • Green room: a private, secure room to store equipment bags, get changed, tune up, and take breaks (table and chairs, power, tea, coffee and drinking water appreciated).

Typical arrival and set-up times

  • Roaming unplugged: we generally arrive 75 minutes before we’re due to perform.

  • Amplified or staged: allow 90 to 120 minutes for load-in, set-up and soundcheck (venue dependent).

How do your sets fit a wedding day?

Choose one core plan (with optional add-ons):

Option A: Pre-Ceremony & Drinks Reception (most popular)

  • 3 × 30-minute roaming sets across ~3 hours during guest arrival and the drinks reception. For full details, see our Pre-Ceremony and Drinks Reception Package →

  • Extended roaming add-on: add up to 2 additional 30-minute sets (total up to 5 × 30-minute sets across the day); popular over the wedding breakfast or early evening.

Option B: Early Evening Entertainment

  • 30-minute roaming sing-along at tables over desserts.

  • Then two 30-minute sets of interactive roaming to greet evening guests and build to the first dance and DJ or headline act.

  • Extended headline-act add-on: a later amplified/staged set with full PA & lighting (party-volume; scalable up to approximately 300 guests).

Option C: Bespoke package

  • Built around your timings and venue (any mix of roaming/staged, unplugged/amplified, PA & lighting).

  • Enquire Now → and we’ll invite you to a consultation call so we can discuss and put together a bespoke quote for you.

Notes: With full PA, we can provide background playlists between sets and a speech mic on request. A small battery-powered speaker may also be provided on request for background music between sets, even when we are providing unplugged roaming. Subject to availability and request in advance.

Can you learn a special song or take requests?

Yes - we encourage requests from the audience on the day. While we won’t know every song, we cover a wide range across most genres and we tailor our choices to suit your tastes and your guests’.

Separately, we’re happy to learn one or two special songs with 4 to 6 weeks’ notice. This gives each musician time to learn their parts and for us to rehearse a suitable arrangement so it’s performance-ready on the day. A surcharge generally applies for learning special requests, subject to agreement at the point of booking.

What about noise limiters?

We work regularly with venues that have noise limiters. Some venues have specific rules about live music in certain areas or at certain times, for example restrictions on live drums or brass, or licence limitations on outside performances. Our unplugged roaming format, with a flexible "performance dial", often lets us provide live music while keeping within the venue's limits and licence restrictions. We’re happy to review any restrictions your venue has in place, and, if helpful, we can discuss our performance options directly with the venue to plan the best format for your day.

What is your weather policy for outdoor sets?

Our performers, instruments and electronic equipment must be protected from rain and extreme heat or cold conditions. If conditions become too wet or windy, we may need to pause or stop outdoor performances and move to a covered area or indoors if the venue allows. If you would like amplified music outdoors, please provide a small sheltered area with power to cover our PA and speaker system so it is protected from unexpected showers and high temperatures.

What space do you need?

For roaming performances around seated guests we generally suggest 2 to 3 metres between tables. When providing roaming entertainment we adapt easily to unusual venue layouts and performances spaces. Staged/amplified performances generally need more space depending on PA system and lighting; we’ll confirm exact needs once we have room measurements from you and the venue (valid for staged non-roaming, amplified bookings only).

Do you provide stage risers or DJ handover equipment?

We do not generally provide stage risers or DJ handover equipment. If other suppliers need to connect to our PA system, this may be possible by arrangement in advance, and we'd encourage a brief call and technical chat in advance.

Do you provide playlists between sets?

  • With full PA: background playlists are included between live sets.

  • When roaming unplugged: we can add a compact battery-powered speaker and supervised playlist, this is generally subject to advanced booking for this service and a nominal fee.

What insurance and compliance do you have?

We hold £10 million Public Liability Insurance and current PAT certificates. This is required by most events venues and copies of our documents are available on request.

How far do you travel?

We’re based near Cambridge and regularly cover Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Hertfordshire and London. UK-wide and overseas bookings are available too by arrangement; travel and accommodation are quoted case by case.

Do you publish prices online?

Guide prices are shown for standard packages so you can check fit and budget. See our Services page → for current guide prices. Bespoke or extended plans are quoted after a short consultation. Guide prices shown; bespoke quotes are available on request. Please enquire to arrange a consultation and quote.

How do we book and pay?

Once you’re ready to proceed with a quote we’ve provided, please email to confirm and tell us your preferred live music start time. We’ll then send you an online booking form to complete. Once completed, you’ll receive a deposit invoice which is generally 20% of the total fee, which once paid will secure the date for you. Our final invoice is generally issued two months before the event, with the balance due seven days before as cleared funds. Payments are made by BACS bank transfer. We are happy to provide a digital receipt for any payments received upon request.

What happens if timings change on the day?

We’re flexible with small shifts in the schedule and include a 30-minute buffer for overruns within our bookings. If significant changes to timings are needed, please let us know as early as possible and we’ll do our utmost to accommodate. All changes must comply with any venue licensing conditions, curfews and staff requirements, so please consider these when finalising your schedule.

When do you check in before the event?

We generally check in with all clients three to four months before the event to confirm timings and the schedule for the day, and we offer a pre-event catch-up call to run through any final arrangements.

Can we extend performance time on the day?

Yes, where possible. Extra performance time is charged on a case by case basis and is subject to musician availability (some performers may have logistics or other commitments to consider). Please give us as much notice as you can and we will do our best to accommodate.

Travel, parking and city charges

We usually discuss travel and parking arrangements during your consultation call and leading up to the event and these costs are generally included within your quote. If circumstances change and on-site parking is no longer available, we reserve the right to pass on any parking costs incurred to the client following the event.

Corporate event planners and accredited venues

We regularly perform at accredited or high-security sites (for example Newmarket Races, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, RHS Chelsea Flower Show) and are familiar with pre event and access procedures for high profile events of this type.

  • Accreditation and pre-registration: we can supply name-registered performer details in advance (full names, roles and, if required, photo ID and vehicle registration), and complete online portal submissions by your deadlines.

  • Risk assessments and method statements (RAMS): provided on request, along with £10 million PLI and current PAT certificates.

  • Site inductions and briefings: we will complete required inductions and follow house rules, access routes and safety protocols.

  • Security and access: our team will carry photo ID and comply with equipment check-in/out processes.

  • What we need from you: please share accreditation links, deadlines, a site contact and any specific H&S requirements so we can plan accordingly.

Repertoire and “do-not-play” list

We have a sample repertoire on our website of songs we enjoy playing regularly. We also consider and often encourage impromptu requests from the audience on the day. Because of our interactive style, we don’t generally decide a full setlist in advance; however, if you have special requests you’d like included, we’re happy to note these in advance. Similarly, if there are songs you’d prefer we do not play, please tell us and we’ll follow your instructions on the day.

Tech rider and stage plot

For amplified or staged bookings we can supply a simple stage plot and tech notes on request to share with your venue or AV team. Please let us know if this is required.

Photo and video usage

You and your guests are very welcome to take photos and short videos of our performance. With your permission, we may share a few of these moments after the event; please tell us if you prefer no posting. We also welcome being tagged in videos and photos, so feel free to tag us on any of our social media channels. If you'd prefer our musicians do not take any venue or performance videos of photographs during your event, please do let us know. We always appreciate any photo of video content following events, so please do feel free to forward any content to us if you are happy for us to use it on our website or social media.

Accessibility and roaming etiquette

We are experienced working around all ages and access needs. If there are any guests who would prefer a little extra space, please let us know and we’ll adapt how we interact accordingly. We are always mindful of our audience and how our performance is being received, and we do our utmost to ensure everyone has the best experience.

Do you need meals or refreshments?

  • Drinks: we very much appreciate provision of soft drinks, tea and coffee while we are on site. Many venues do not include this as standard; if you are able to pre-arrange a supplier refreshment tab with your venue team, we greatly appreciate it. Please ensure drinking water is available throughout.

  • Supplier Meals:

    • Bookings under 3 hours on site: there is generally no requirement or expectation to provide supplier meals.

    • Bookings over 3 hours on site: please do make arrangements for your venue or catering team to provide a hot meal for each band member during a suitable break.

What if a musician is ill?

This is an extremely rare circumstance. If a band member becomes unavailable due to illness or emergency, we’ll provide a vetted professional deputy ("dep") of equal standard from our extensive network of trusted musicians. The line-up and instrumentation will remain as contracted wherever possible.

What do you wear?

We generally recommend the attire you will see us performing in our videos: a navy suit and white shirt. If you have a particular dress code in mind for your event, please let us know in advance. We have some co-ordinated options available, for example black-tie attire or smart casual. For more specialised dress codes or uniforms, please discuss this with us in advance. While we may have options available fitting your brief, some options may be subject to a nominal fee should we new to purchase new or matching attire.

Can you work with our DJ or other acts?

Yes. We regularly coordinate handovers and set times with DJ's, venue staff and other entertainers on the day. Equipment sharing is not included by default, but we can agree safe, pre-approved connections if this is arrangement in advance. Additional charges may apply if we are required to share our equipment or if time on site extends beyond the contracted performance, load-in and load-out windows. We can also accommodate early load-in and soundcheck and also load-out arrangements by prior agreement, surcharges may apply.

What is your cancellation or postponement policy?

All bookings are governed by our contract. Deposits provide protection for both our clients and our musicians and are therefore non-refundable. While we will do our utmost to accommodate date changes, these are subject to availability; where we can accommodate a new date, fees and travel may be adjusted accordingly.
